The Bunbury Kart Club is located between the Bunbury Airport and the speedway on North Boyanup Road, the road from Bunbury to Boyanup. Access is via the speedway competitors car park. The facilities include canteen and bar, hot showers and a pit area among shady Peppermint and Banksia trees.
The track is hot mix, approximately 705 metres long and between 6.0 and 7.3 metres wide. When racing clockwise the main straight is 116 m long with a 90 degree turn, flat out right hander onto the 70m Pit Straight. Lap times for the long circuit are about 34 seconds for Clubman and 36 for Nationals. The shorter variation of the track that is used for Open meetings is about 2 seconds quicker. Gearing obviously varies depending on your kart set up but some starting ratios are Clubbies 11/87, Nationals 12/80 and Rookies 13/70.
The Club has also resolved to extend the track to 1000 m as soon as possible. Negotiations with the City Council to expand our lease have been protracted we will not be able to secure all the land we had initially hoped for. This means that the Pit Straight can only be extended to 120 metres with a banked turn leading into a number of tight corners and shorter sections to create more passing opportunities.
Visitors are most welcome - camping is permitted provided you do the right thing and don't leave a mess to clean up. Private practice for non-members is $15 per session.
